Michael Leng
Director
Michael Leng is a Director at CNM’s Malaysia office with 26 years of experience across multiple sectors in risk and controls management, internal and external audit, business analysis, and process improvement. He is a chartered accountant trained in two of the Big 4 firms, with subsequent working experience in financial services and other industries.
Prior to joining CNM in Malaysia, Michael was based mainly in London, UK, primarily as an independent consultant. His work highlights include conducting independent audit validation of audit resolutions at Bank of America and forming and leading the internal audit function at eMed-Babylon Health. He also managed Risk Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) at Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse, while creating an industry-standard risk and controls management solution for two top-tier banks. In addition to these roles, Michael served as deputy head of internal audit at London’s main rail company. At Lloyds Banking Group, he formed a new ‘LIBOR Centre of Excellence’ department comprising 40 people.
Throughout his career, he has driven controls design and documentation, issue remediation efforts, and led various special projects. Michael always seeks to create efficiencies for his clients, including reducing reporting or process lead times by streamlining processes or automation possibilities. His past financial services clients include Credit Suisse, HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Barclays, Royal Bank of Scotland, Lloyds Banking Group, and Bank of America.
